STREET STYLE // AFROPUNK NYC FESTIVAL 2015

If I could only describe the fashion at the AFROPUNK festival in three words, I would describe it as authentic, colorful and expressive. These are a few of the attendees that embodied those three words beautifully.

I am happy to announce that this editorial has been published on www.fashioneditorials.com. It was shot in April just when the spring blossoms started appearing around the city and working with the team to create these images was effortless and inspiring.

BEST OF LONDON FASHION WEEK FALL/WINTER 2015 | DAY 4

The fourth day of London Fashion Week was nothing short of inspiring. It was a melange of unexpected colors, prints and silhouettes that left me marveled at the amount of creativity it took to create these garments.
The standout collections for me were Rokasanda (this was my favorite of the day), Peter Pilotto, Mulberry, Christopher Kane and Burberry. Look through the slideshow below to view my picks from all the collections.

RUNWAY | MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK DAY 2 (RUNWAY PICTURES)

MONIQUE LHULLIER
On Day 2, I only got cover two shows for the publication I write for, Monique Lhullier and Katie Gallagher. Monique Lhullier's show was so dreamy! It definitely was my favorite of the day while Katie Gallagher's show was very forward thinking.

I loved the makeup looks used in both shows however, Katie's makeup looks were my favorite. I really appreciated that Katie's show began as a runway show and ended as a presentation. I loved that so much because I enjoy seeing the garments move down the runway and also being able to get close to the clothes. The presentation allows me to see the beauty of the fabric, construction and all the details, including makeup looks.

MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARD RED CARPET LOOKS

So I woke up this morning, excited to look through all the VMA red carpet looks. After looking through, all I can say, with the exception of a few, is that I was bored, disappointed and in one or two cases, horrified (here's looking at you Amber Rose).

I am disappointed first of all at the fact that there is no art in dressing anymore. I cannot count how many times I saw outfits that failed the most basic guidelines of style, fit, proportion and body type. Even more disheartening is the amount of money many of theses celebs pay "stylists" who have no comprehension of the basics. Here's a quote that kept running through my head as I looked through the pictures "Just because a look is trendy does not mean you forget how a garment should fall and flatter your body" I'll trademark that later lol.

Here are a list of my absolute favorites (JLO! JLO! JLO!), several that made me yawn and my worst of the evening. Click below to check them out.

MY PICKS FROM THE PARIS FALL 2014 HAUTE COUTURE SHOWS

The Haute Couture shows in Paris are some of my favorites of the runway seasons. These exquisite hand worked pieces are some of the most breathtaking designs you will see on any runway. I was especially drawn to Elie Saab, Ralph & Russo, Julien Fournie and my absolute favorites Georges Hobeika and Zuhair Murad.

CFDA's 2014 Fashion Icon Winner - Robyn "Rihanna" Fenty

Rihanna has always been one of my celebrity style muses. I am so happy for her on winning this award because no other celebrity deserves it except her. She uses fashion to express herself, she uses it to push "boundaries" society sets and she even inspires and more dares us to be more brave in our expression of life.

The dress Rihanna chose to wear was nothing short of stunning and appropriate. What else do you wear to receive a fashion icon award? except an iconic look. She simply was that, iconic and this look will always be referred to as one of the best and most daring looks in fashion for many years to come.
